Paul E. Adkins, a resident of Redondo Beach, California, is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Commercial Bank of California.

Mr. Adkins was most recently the Senior Vice President and Controller for Imperial Bank of Los Angeles, which was acquired in 2001 by Comerica. At Imperial Bank, Mr. Adkins managed the accounting staff responsible for SEC reporting, accounting policies, taxes, internal controls, financial analysis, capital expenditure budgets, and accounting systems.

Prior to joining Imperial Bank in 2000, Mr. Adkins was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for 1st Business Bank, which was acquired in 1999 by Mellon Bank. At 1st Business Bank, Mr. Adkins directed the professional finance and accounting staff in the areas of strategic planning, compliance, regulatory reporting, taxes, internal controls, asset/liability management, capital expenditure budgets, profit plans, accounting systems, and financial analysis. He directed the financial analysis of products and services and was involved in the decision to establish de novo branches and to evaluate acquisition candidates.

Mr. Adkins joined First Interstate Bank, Limited in 1986, which was acquired in 1993 by Standard Chartered bank. Mr. Adkins remained with standard Chartered Bank until 1996 to manage the integration of accounting and application systems subsequent to Standard’s purchase of First Interstate Bank, Ltd. During this tenure, Mr. Adkins was Senior Vice President and Controller, managing the accounting functions, including accounting compliance, operations and internal controls. He developed a managerial reporting system to evaluate the profitability of geographic, product, and key business segments.

From 1983 to 1986, Mr. Adkins was Senior Vice President and Controller for Sanwa Bank California (formerly Lloyds Bank California). He was a Vice President and Manager of the Accounting and consolidation Division of Security Pacific National Bank from 1976 to 1983. Mr. Adkins began his accounting career with Cannon Grant & Company of Los Angeles, a public accounting firm formed by former Price Waterhouse accountants.

Mr. Adkins is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from California State University at Los Angeles. He received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California. He earned a certification from the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington.
