Bala Balkrishna is a Chief Executive Officer and Director who brings to the leadership of Commercial Bank of California nearly three decades of exceptional management experience and successful ventures in virtually all areas of the commercial banking industry. His banking career began with Bank of America in 1973. Most of his training occurred during his tenure with Bank of America and First Interstate Bank.

Prior to establishing Commercial Bank of California in May 2003, he was Executive Vice President and Regional Manager and a member of the Loan Committee with First Bank & Trust, Newport Beach. Bala headed First Bank & Trust’s largest Commercial and Industrial Banking Group. His responsibilities were broad in scope, including asset and deposit generation; loan quality; policy and procedures; auditing; regulatory compliance, corporate marketing; recruitment; training; loan collections and community reinvestment.

Bala earned a Bachelor of Arts degree as well as a Master of Arts degree from Hindu College at the University of Delhi, India. In addition, he was awarded a Masters degree in Business Administration from California State University, Fullerton. He has been a resident of Orange County since 1971.
